Wastewater mainly contains sugars, alcohols, and organic compounds with high concentrations. During the soaking process of barley, pentose, sucrose, glucose, and cellulose in the outer skin are dissolved. Protein proteins, tannins, bitter substances, etc., with soluble substances ranging from 0.5% to 1.5%, and the wastewater is brown in color. It also contains various amino acids, alcohols, vitamins, hops, cellulose, and maltose.
The amount of beer wastewater depends on the production scale, and generally about 12-20m3 of wastewater is discharged from brewing 1 ton of beer.
Beer wastewater mainly comes from malt workshop (malt soaking wastewater), saccharification workshop (saccharification, filtration and washing wastewater), fermentation workshop (fermentation tank washing, filtration and washing wastewater), filling workshop (bottle washing, sterilization wastewater and beer from bottle crushing), and cooling wastewater for production.

Brewery wastewater treatment process

The reaction time in the SBR reaction tank is about 6 hours, the water temperature is 20-25 ℃, the sludge concentration is about 4000mg/L, the effluent quality meets the first-class discharge standard, the COD removal rate is 92%, and the BOD removal rate is 98%.

Compared with traditional continuous activated sludge, it can eliminate sedimentation tanks and sludge return facilities, and has stable operation, high purification efficiency, shock load resistance, avoidance of sludge expansion, and easy operation and treatment.
2: UASB → Contact Oxidation
The UASB reactor integrates biological reactions and sedimentation, with a compact structure. Wastewater enters from the bottom of the reactor through a water distribution system, passes through a three-phase separator of gas, solid, and liquid in the reaction zone, and enters the sedimentation zone. After the separation of gas, solid, and liquid, biogas is collected in the gas chamber and then flows through the biogas pipe to the biogas holder. There is no stirring equipment in the UASB, and the rising water flow and biogas generated airflow are sufficient to meet the stirring needs. The UASB reactor has a simple structure and is easy to operate; For soluble organic wastewater from beer production, the hydraulic surface load in the sedimentation zone is 3m3/(m2); The COD removal rate is around 75%, and the pH value is between 6.8-7.2.
